The VST video stroboscope has been designed to continuously monitor the print quality of fast-running cable printing machines. The system also offers the convenience of being able to view the entire print area at various magnifications on a monitor screen. The integrated software allows various evaluations of the displayed print area; e.g. alarm in case of bad quality and / or missing prints.
The device is e.g. synchronized with the gravure printer's stroboscopic signal output (12 pulses per printwheel revolution). A special high-speed camera periodically takes a sequence of 12 consecutive partial print photographs depicting the total print impression printed by the printwheel circumference and outputs them via a 1 Gb/sec Ethernet interface to any computer (not included with the basic VST Video Stroboscope).
The following optional units are available for easy installation and optimal use of all software capabilities:
Mechanical support with fine X-Y - adjustment, easy to mount on any available rack, and enabling the VST video stroboscopic lamp to be rotated around the axis of the running cable so that the camera is focused on the print impression
Robust rack with rack jack height adjustable column mounted support for VST-ROT rotary unit, VST-SUP supply unit, as well as optional computer and VST-PC monitor unit.
Computer with 1 Gb/sec Ethernet interface and touch screen monitor with mechanical support to be mounted on VST-RACK.
Specially licensed image processing software for automatic monitoring of print quality. After adjusting the cable printer for optimal results, the operator enters the image displayed as a “good” reference image. The software then automatically monitors the taken periodically pictures by comparing them with the reference image entered. An alarm is triggered whenever an adjustable level of difference is exceeded.
